SPRINGFIELD, Ore. — The Housing and Community Services Agency of Lane County (HACSA) says it wants to build residential, multi-family housing in the Glenwood area.

The Springfield City Council held a public hearing Monday night on the annexation request.

This past year, work began on commercial hotel property in the west.

The city has worked for years to change the face of the neighborhood and says this is just one piece of the puzzle.

“Things are coming together very quickly. Things are changing in Glenwood, I think arguably for the better, and this is just one site that will provide much needed housing in Glenwood,” said Andy Limbird, Springfield City Senior Planner.

The issue will be on the consent calendar Feb. 18, and it will likely be approved. Once that happens, the agency can start with development plans.
