HARRISBURG, Ore. — Nearly five months after a major employer shut its doors in Harrisburg, there is word that a new business is stepping in to reopen the facility.
Forest River Incorporated confirmed with KEZI 9 News, that it has purchased the former Monaco plant in Harrisburg, and has plans to rehire as much of the former staff as possible.
The sale went through last week.
Monaco manufactured towable RVs at the plant until February when it closed. More than 100 people lost their jobs, dealing a blow to Harrisburg’s already struggling economy.
A spokesperson from Forest River say the company has already opened the plant and is in the process of rehiring. No other details were given.
According to the company’s website, Forest River Inc, is headquartered in Elkhart, Indiana and manufactures recreational vehicle products. The company owns 60 plants, and employs more than 5,000 people.
