Hazmat Investigates Incident at House

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. — Emergency crews were busy Wednesday night with a drug investigation that turned dangerous.

The Interagency Narcotics Team was investigating at a house on Forsythia in Springfield when they stumbled upon materials they believed could be dangerous. That’s why they called in hazmat and fire crews to take a closer look at the substances before they continued.

“We’ve dealt with either before, things that can be very volatile, and so we just don’t mess around. If we find chemicals and can’t ID them, or something in various states of a chemical process, we’ll call in hazmat,” said Sgt. John Umenhofer, Springfield Police Department.

After hazmat determined the chemicals weren’t threatening, INET got back to work.

The drug investigation is still on-going.
