SPRINGFIELD, Ore. — Looking for a healthy snack? A local organization is teaming up with Dari Mart to provide healthy and affordable food to under-served Lane County neighborhoods.
Dari Mart and the Lane Coalition for Healthy Active Youth (LCHAY) partnered up again this year. bringing healthy food options to low income families in the county.
Sweetwater Farm will host a farm stand every Wednesday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Dari Mart on the corner of Centennial Avenue and Rainbow Drive in Springfield.
This effort is one of the few healthy corner store projects in the nation where a mid-sized chain is working with a local nonprofit.
“This is our second year, different farmer this year, slightly different offerings this year, but still really great seasonal fresh locally-grown and affordably-priced produce,” said Laurie Trieger, LCHAY Executive Director.
The stand will be open until late September or even October depending on the farming season.
LCHAY and Dari Mart are also working together to install fresher and healthier options inside local Dari Marts during the winter season.
