EUGENE, Ore. — Big changes are coming to Valley River Center this fall, after years of negotiations with retailer H&M.
“We’ve been working with H&M for a couple years now to get them to locate out here, and so early in the fall we finally worked out a deal with them and they’re ready to come in,” said Valley River Center property manager Robert McOmie.
In June construction will begin on the 20,000 square foot store that’ll be taking over a space left vacated ten years ago by Emporium. H&M said it specializes in affordable clothing and accessories for men, women, and children. Once it moves into the mall, it’ll be changing the look of its storefront.
“They’re going to re-clad the whole outside with the new storefront look and so the Valley River Center that you see today is not going to be the Valley River Center that you see in six months,” said McOmie.
Valley River Center said this announcement comes after a busy year of development at the mall. “So we’ve expanded the mall, we’ve been seeing a lot of expansion in the mall over the last year,” said McOmie.
Changes include both BJs and Texas Roadhouse building their new restaurants in the parking lot and lots of changes inside as well.
While H&M hasn’t announced a timeline for when it should be opening, Valley River Center expects the store to open sometimes in December.
