EUGENE, Ore. — Lane County health experts say the number of flu cases continues to rise.
But for those uncomfortable with the flu vaccine, naturalists say there are holistic approaches.
Employees at Red Barn Natural Grocery in Eugene say eating whole foods, rather than processed and packaged foods, is probably the best way to prevent illness. They say vitamins can be helpful, but they shouldn’t be the only remedy to fighting the flu.
Employee Justin Green said, “When you have a vitamin that’s synthesized, and you’re just taking it, you’re not having all the other nutrients that would naturally be around. Naturally occurring food help to digest and absorb into your body a lot better.”
Red Barn workers also say another popular natural remedy is a Chinese traditional blend of herbs called Yin Chiao.
