EUGENE, Ore. — The committee in charge of the “Opportunity Village” homeless project will be holding a meeting Tuesday night to discuss the project.
The group wants to use the intersection of West 13th Avenue and Chambers Street as a good site for a village.
Architect Mark Lakeman, whose nonprofit was instrumental in creating Portland’s Dignity Village, will be speaking at the event.
It will be held at 7 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Church located at 1685 W. 13th Ave.

Wow glad I found this notice. I am on Chambers and 11th since 5/2011 having made it out of WI finally to live in Eugene near my oldest daughter. I lived in my car 3 years trying to get my belongings here rather that live through any more of the nastiness in WI toward the poor and the terrible racism.
I couldn’t believe the Lord would let me be two blocks away from this.

I am so glad we are going to have a Dignity Village, I have been asking and praying and pleading for one for many years.

I read that it “will be held at 7 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Church located at 1685 W. 13th Ave.”, but it did not say on what date. Was it tonight or will it be some other night. I would really like to be involved.

It wouldn’t be fair to property owners to locate a homeless camp, or “village”, in a residential neighborhood. Why should property owners be forced to take the risk of any property devaluation.
