The American Vaulting Association hosted its 2014 regional championships at the Oregon Horse Center. It’s the first time regionals have ever been in Eugene.
Organizers of the competition say the show is like watching gymnastics or dance on horseback and competitors train long and hard for events like this.
“They are probably putting in three to five practices a week from two to four hours a day,” said Kathy Rynning, the competition manager.
Organizers say the competition is coming back at the end of July for nationals, the first time it’s ever been held in Oregon.
