Meteorologist Melissa Frey’s Forecast Discussion:
It’s another hot afternoon in western Oregon. Temperatures are trending about 4° warmer than yesterday and we should top out at about 95° this afternoon, which would set a new record. The record high temperature for today is 94° which was set 30 years ago.
High pressure is over western Oregon. With dry air in place, north winds, clear skies and compressing air under high pressure we have all the physics needed for hot weather today along with warm and dry weather through Friday.
Wednesday will only be a couple of degrees cooler, but Thursday and Friday we should return to the mid to upper 80s as the ridge begins to weaken.
We’ll continue to cool down as we head into the weekend. In fact, a trough of low pressure is on it’s way for Saturday and Sunday which would cool us down to the upper 70s and low 80s with a slight chance of light rain.
Have a great day!
