Meteorologist Melissa Frey’s Forecast Discussion:

Hot Hot Hot! Eugene reached a high of 96° yesterday, this is the third time we’ve been that hot this summer. Roseburg also hit 96 and it was 99 at the Corvallis Airport!

We’re over half way through the year and this is still the driest start to a year that Eugene as ever recorded. It’s been warm too, in fact, this is the fifth warmest start to a summer in Eugene and the warmest start ever recorded for Roseburg.

High pressure is anchored over the western half of the U.S. and will keep us in the mid 90s again today, low 90s Thursday. There is an area of low pressure moving in to southern Oregon which is bring in moisture and possible thunderstorms for Southern, Central and Eastern Oregon.

By Friday this ridge will begin to break down and a trough will move in from the Gulf of Alaska. This will bring in slightly cooler air and drop our highs to the mid 80s by this weekend and low 80s early next week.

Stay cool!
