House Destroyed in Early Morning Fire

VIDA, Ore. – McKenzie Fire and Rescue crews responded to a structure fire early Tuesday morning.

Fire Chief Darren Bucich says around 2:20 a.m. crews were dispatched to a structure fire at 45309 McKenzie Hwy.

On arrival, firefighters found the house to be fully engulfed by flames. The house was located up a 400 foot steep narrow driveway which required the crews to park on McKenzie Hwy and pull the attack lines up the driveway.

The structure and a small portion of the wildland behind the structure was burned. The Oregon Department of Forestry was called to battle the wildland and so McKenzie Fire and Rescue could focus on the house. Both fires were contained, but the house was a total loss.

The cause is unknown and still under investigation.
