How to Stay Safe in the Fog

FOG PICTUREEUGENE, Ore. — With more fog in the forecast, police have a few reminders to keep drivers and pedestrians safe.

Eugene police says it hasn’t responded to many fog-related accidents, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t potential dangers.

Police are asking drivers, pedestrians and bicyclists to pay extra attention to their surroundings.

“The lights on a bicycle, flashing lights front and rear, people can (see) those for a long ways away. You may not think so, that it’s such a small light, but they increase your distance of visibility by quite a bit. For runners, also wearing a vest,” said Sgt. Dale Dawson, Eugene Police Department.

Sgt. Dawson says drivers should also slow down and keep their lights on.
