SALEM, Ore. — Oregon State Police investigated a crash Sunday involving a Marion County Sheriff’s Office sport utility vehicle.
Troopers say around 8:40 a.m., a MCSO marked sport utility vehicle driven by a deputy was on I-5 responding to assist officers who spotted a felony assault suspect in a field near the freeway.
The deputy lost control on the wet pavement, crossed the center median and went into the southbound lanes. The vehicle struck a concrete wall and sign before coming to rest on shoulder.
The deputy and a ride-along cadet both received non-life threatening injuries and were transported to Salem Hospital for treatment.
