EUGENE, Ore. — Eugene Public Works said the freezing rain caused a mess out on the roads. Crews sanded and plowed priority routes throughout the day, but they can no longer use de-icer because it doesn’t work in the rain.
While crews tried to clear the roads, they’re asking drivers to wait out the storm indoors.
“If you don’t have to be out in it, I recommend, you know, not being out for a while. If you’re up in the South Hills and stuff, if you don’t need to go up there, avoid those areas and just take your time,” said Eric Johnson, Eugene Public Works surface operations manager.
Public works said it’ll have crews out non-stop until all the snow is off the roadways.
