EUGENE, Ore. — Oregon is known for its many iconic bridges and now a piece of one can be yours. Sections of the historic Cape Creek Bridge north of Florence are for sale.
Hamilton Construction of Springfield is renovating the bridge because it has been deemed structurally unsafe. Managers decided to donate thirty 20-foot sections of the bridge’s railings to Bring Recycling. Crews hauled in those remnants to Bring on Thursday. The pieces have not been priced yet but the goal is to sell them for decorative use.
Conde McCullough was the famous engineer behind several bridges you’ll see up and down the Oregon coast including this one. Some of his pieces have already been reused and placed at different memorials and parks around the state.
