Immigration Reform Rally on Nat’l Mall

(CNN) — Demonstrators convened in the nation’s capital Tuesday to demand Congress pass comprehensive immigration reform.

The issue, which the House was expected to take up this month, has been eclipsed by the recent government shutdown and debt ceiling debate.

Protesters gathered on the National Mall to demand the House pass an immigration law overhaul already approved by the Senate. They want a bill passed by the end of the year that would address a path to citizenship and border control.

The marchers were joined by Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi and Senator Robert Menendez of New Jersey among other members of Congress.
