Interview: 2013 Block Kids Competition

EUGENE, Ore. — Creativity and construction is the running theme behind a free kids competition happening next weekend.

Students in first through sixth grade can sign up for the annual 2013 Block Kids Competition.

The event is cosponsored by the National Association of Women in Construction and the Science Factory.

Emily Shelton with the Science Factory joined us live in the studio Monday morning to explain how kids can get involved.

This competition started in the 1990s with about 20 contestants. Last year, there were more than 70 kids.

This weekend’s competition is Saturday, Feb. 9 from 1-4 p.m. at Gateway Mall in Springfield. This is a free competition, but space is limited. Click here to register.
