Jail Beds to Re-open

EUGENE, Ore. — Lane County public safety leaders wasted no time making plans with new funds that will come from the successful levy, passed Tuesday night.

Early numbers showed 56 percent of voters were on board with the tax that will support jail beds and youth services.

John Aarons at the John Serbu Juvenile Detention Center says after all the hard work during this campaign, staff can’t wait to show the county what they can do with their support.

“I think staff are excited. People are looking forward to the next steps and excited about continuing the work we are so passionate about,” Aarons said.

Youth services portion of the levy will double the center’s detention beds and treatment beds for at-risk youth in Lane County.
