Jail Escapee Sentenced to Prison

ROSEBURG, Ore. — The man who escaped from the Douglas County Jail and eluded police for nearly a month was sentenced Wednesday.

Thomas Grimes will spend more than seven years in prison.

In June, he snuck out of the jail in a garbage can. Over the following 33 days, Grimes slipped away from law enforcement officers twice before being caught on the third attempt.

He pleaded no contest to all 10 charges against him, including escape.

Glad to hear they are finally sending him upstate. Hope they keep and eye on him and he doesn’t escape again.
