Japanese Arch Washes Ashore

FLORENCE, Ore. — A second piece of a sacred Japanese arch washed on shore near Florence.

Crews removed the latest piece Tuesday afternoon of what could be tsunami debris.

The debris is believed to be the top part of a torii. It’s about 14 feet long and three feet wide.

Someone found a similar piece of debris near Oceanside in March.

The exact origins of the debris is unknown, but the state has called the consular office of Japan in Portland about the discovery.
