Job Expo Helps People with Disabilities

EUGENE, Ore. — There’s an event this week to help people with disabilities find jobs.

Oregon Vocational Rehabilitation Services say the unemployment rate for those with disabilities is more than twice that of those without.

On Thursday, 14 employers will be at Lane Community College for the first ever Tapping Fresh Talent Career Expo.

Rocky Hadley, of Vocational Rehabilitation Services, says the free event will help people find jobs and shed light on stereotypes.

“Let people know that people with disabilities are a valued employees and that there’s a lot of misconceptions from business about employees with disabilities,” Hadley said.

The event begins at 9 a.m. with a workshop on networking. The expo itself is from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
