Judge Questions Oregon Desert Trail

DESERT TRAILBEND, Ore. — ¬†Harney County Judge Steve Grasty wants to know what type of federal environmental review will be done before officials can designate the route for the proposed 800-mile Oregon Desert Trail.

He’d also like specifics on who will post signs and what kind of emergency management will be available on the trail.

Grasty has put his questions in a letter to federal agencies and he’s asking elected leaders in Deschutes, Lake and Malheur counties to sign onto it.

Michael Campbell, a BLM official in Portland, says there will be public meetings and a look at the effect on communities.
