BEND, Ore. – Bend Police charged a juvenile for setting a fire in a local park two weeks ago.
On Friday, July 19, Bend Police and fire crews responded to a brush fire across from Farewell Bend Park. Police say witnesses saw four juvenile males fleeing from the area as the fire started.
Officers say the four juveniles were reportedly smoking marijuana near rock cliff.
Bend Police contacted one of the juveniles, a 15-year-old male from Bend, who admitted to lighting fireworks and said ignited the fire. During the interview, officers found a concealed dagger and marijuana on the juvenile.
Police charged the juvenile with reckless burning, reckless endangering, carrying a concealed weapon, and possession of marijuana within 100 ft of a school.
