HILLSBORO, Ore. — Hundreds turned out Monday for a memorial service to honor a Portland K-9 officer killed in the line of duty.
Police officers and their canines from all around the country and even Canada showed up for Monday’s service.
“To the community at large, words cannot express the amount of gratitude I have for the support you have shown throughout this difficult time. Mick lived and died not only as a true puppy, but as a hero in my heart. Thank you,” said Officer Jeff Dorn, Portland Police Bureau.
Mick and Officer Dorn had worked together just four months when mick was killed on April 16. He was trying to catch a burglary suspect when he was shot. Officer Dorn was also shot twice in the leg.
