Kids Teach About Drug & Alcohol Dangers

smokingSPRINGFIELD, Ore. — A group of kids spent their day talking to younger students about the dangers of drugs and alcohol.

Members of the Students Opposed to Drugs and Alcohol (SODA) Club went to several local schools to talk to fourth graders about drug-free choices. On Monday, they focused on the dangers of smoking cigarettes.

“I remember when I was in fourth of fifth grade when SODA Club came in. It was a fun atmosphere to learn in, and I really obtained a lot and I wanted to, you know, give it back,” said Alec Cook, SODA Club Vice President.

SODA Club students told the younger students that smokers aren’t bad people, just people with bad habits.

The SODA Club is operated through Springfield High School.
