Lanes to Close for Beltline Construction

EUGENE, Ore. — Starting Thursday night, you can expect some new lane closures on the Beltline.

In order to replace the existing bridge, ODOT will be building a temporary structure over I-5 right next to the existing bridge. To do this, they’ll be closing the right turn lane on westbound Beltline to I-5 South.

This is part of a lengthy construction project to re-do the Beltline bridge over the interstate.

“This is one of the heaviest travelled interchanges in the Eugene-Springfield area; 97,000 vehicles each day travel through this interchange going one direction or another,” said Rick Little, ODOT spokesman.

ODOT advises drivers traveling through that area to leave a bit of extra time in the morning because the lane closure could cause some backups.
