Large Turnout for Hospital Job Fair

JUNCTION CITY, Ore. — Even though it won’t be open for another two years, the Oregon State Hospital in Junction City started its recruitment process.

The hospital held a job fair Thursday, starting the staffing process for the 174 bed psychiatric facility.

The massive building’s scheduled to open in 2015. Once fully staffed, it will require 500 workers.

“I think that its going to bring a lot of job opportunities for us nurses that were going into the field and hoping for a job and not sure if there was going to be one there,” said job seeker Andrea Shofstallso. “I think its going to be awesome”

The state will hire 150 workers this year.

They will train and work at the Salem campus until the hospital’s finished.

Another 200 will be hired next year.
