METEOROLOGIST MELISSA FREY’S FORECAST DISCUSSION:
This is the last weekend of winter as spring begins Wednesday morning 3/20/13. The ironic thing is that it will likely look more like winter the many of the weekends in the last month, thanks to the jet stream moving south.
Most of Friday will stay dry between storms, but we’ll see another cold front move in on Saturday. This will bring in another round of showers Saturday afternoon and drop our temperatures another five degrees to the mid 50s. The freezing level will drop to around 2,500 feet, bringing a couple of inches of snow to the passes and ski resorts.
Sunday afternoon through Tuesday is looking dry at this point, but cooler than we’ve been. Highs will be in the low to mid 50s with lows in the mid to upper 30s. A larger storm move in Tuesday night and Wednesday. This will drop temps another few degrees and bring in heavier rain and mountain snow for the first day of spring.
Have a great weekend!
