Late Summer Cool Down

Meteorologist Melissa Frey’s Forecast Discussion:

The sunrise looked a little bit different today. As of 9 a.m. we have yet to see the sun in most of western Oregon, instead a thick cloud layer which is also delivering some heavy drizzle/light rain to the area. Eugene picked up 0.01″ of precipitation between 7 and 8 a.m. that’s the first rain we’ve seen in six days and only the fourth time this month.

A trough of low pressure has allowed these clouds to form along with bringing in a cooler air mass from the north. High temperatures today will be about 10 degrees cooler than Tuesday. We’ll still see mostly sunny skies this afternoon with highs in the upper 70s and low 80s.

For the remainder of the week and through the weekend we’ll basically be in-between high pressure to the west of us and low pressure to the east. This means we’ll see fairly mild weather with morning clouds giving way to afternoon sunshine. Highs will stay in the low 80s Thursday and Friday then mid to  upper 80s for the weekend and early next week.

Have a great Wednesday!
