EUGENE, Ore. — A law firm in Eugene is turning to the Internet to help in its defense of a man charged with murder.
Gerald Strebendt is accused of shooting David Crofut in Springfield in January after a crash.
Now, Arnold Law is looking for witnesses. Gerald Strebendt is claiming self-defense.
Police say after the two men got into a car crash on Bob Straub Parkway, they got out of their cars and Strebendt shot and killed Crofut. Strebendt’s lawyer says he felt threatened.
Now Mike Arnold with Arnold Law has set up a website putting out a call for witnesses. Arnold says the gag order was loosened in the case, and so his office put the site together.
Arnold says they’re looking for people who were traveling on Bob Straub Parkway around 8 p.m. on January 29 that may have seen two disabled vehicles in the southbound lane.
“It’s a fairly busy traffic way between Highway 126 and some residential areas, as well as going on out to Jasper, so there are likely people who take that commute overnight or maybe going back into town for groceries running errands those are the sorts of people we want to talk to,” Arnold said.
Police say Strebendt was the only one with a gun.
The trial is expected to take place in March 2015.
