LCC Center Named After Veteran

EUGENE, Ore. — One of 12 living Medal of Honor recipients who fought in World War II will be at Lane Community College to dedicate a new veteran center named in his honor.

Robert Dale Maxwell will speak at the dedication for the new Maxwell Student Veteran Center, located inĀ Building 19, Room 233B.

Maxwell was awarded the Medal of Honor in 1944 for gallantry and bravery during his service in the war. He taught the auto mechanics program at LCC from 1966 until his retirement in 1986.

The dedication will recognize Maxwell’s service to LCC and to honor his heroism durng the war. The ceremony takes places from 1-3 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 5 at the Center for Meeting and Learning.
