The parade in Veneta will start at 8th and Broadway on Thursday night. When it gets dark, the lights will be turned on with the 9th annual Light Parade winding through Veneta.
You can’t miss the sign off Highway 126 advertising the Fern Ridge Light Parade. Signs are also going up in town all in preparation.
The city is clearly marking the route.
Hundreds are expected to line the streets to watch floats pass by.
While EPUD workers are in town doing maintenance, they’ll be back thursday with a bucket truck lit from top to bottom.
This small town parade started with utilities including EPUD and Lane Electric providing the big floats to generate holiday excitement and it’s grown.
“It started small. Nine years ago there were 8-10 floats and the churches got involved and the service groups and more and more we’ve been up to 35 to 40 floats,” said Ric Ingahm, Veneta City Administrator.
The same utilities are also taking part in other light parades this week.
Here’s the schedule:
Friday: Junction City.
Saturday: Harrisburg and Monroe
All parades start at 7 p.m.
