CORVALLIS, Ore. — A Corvallis family lost a young child in a tragic car accident Friday night.
Seventeen-month-old Taylor King died Friday night after she was hit by her father’s car in the driveway.
Corvallis Police responded to a call just after 7 p.m. of a critically injured child at the 400 block of Northwest Conifer Boulevard.
Taylor had been playing in the driveway with two other children in front of the home when it happened.
By the time officers arrived, her parents had already rushed her to Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center. She died shortly after getting to the Emergency Room.
Officers said the parents are distraught.
“They’re devastated. You know, anytime a parent loses a child it’s devastating for them. I think they’re probably doing as well as can be expected under the circumstances,” said Lt. Cord Wood of the Corvallis Police Department.
Officers said they hope people will take this as a reminder to always be cautious while driving, especially around young children.
Officers have reviewed the case with the Benton County District Attorney’s Office and both believe that there is no need to file criminal charges. The case is being treated as an accident.
