COBURG, Ore. — Crews are getting ready for this weekend’s Living River Celebration at Green Island near Coburg. It’s where the Willamette and McKenzie rivers come together.

The McKenzie River Trust is holding its annual, free event. There will be tree climbing, birding, self-guiding walks, canoeing, and Ninkasi beer and music.

“This is an opportunity for everyone to come out and just explore and do whatever they want to do on this day, bring a picnic lunch, bring kids to climb some trees, just do whatever they want to do,” says Brandi Ferguson with the McKenzie River Trust.

The Living River Celebration is all day Saturday from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. It’s free, but if you register in advance you can enter to win a $100 REI gift card.
