Local Bank Executive Heads to D.C.

EUGENE, Ore. — A long-time Oregon bank executive is saying goodbye to Eugene after landing a job in Washington, D.C.

Ann Marie Mehlum is the current CEO of Summit Bank in downtown Eugene, but she’ll soon take her post as the associate administrator at the Small Business Administration in D.C. She says she’s excited for the new opportunity.

“My background is in banking and lending, and I’ve always been an advocate that we have more sort of normal business people in Washington, D.C. regular bankers, regular small-business people helping to make decisions there,” Mehlum said.

Mehlum will report to U.S. Small Business Administrator Karen Mills who’s a member of President Obama’s cabinet.
