JUNCTION CITY, Ore. — A local sports legend celebrated his birthday Saturday with his family and fans. Bob Doerr turned 95 and is the oldest living member in the Baseball Hall of Fame.
Doerr celebrated in his hometown of Junction City, as well as signed some autographs for fans. He’s lived in Junction City for over 60 years and says the town’s people are what make it a great place to live.
“Well I know a lot of people here, and it’s a good town. Ever since I can remember picking a town to live in, I picked Junction City,” said Doerr.
Doerr says he still follows the game and tries to regularly watch the Boston Red Sox, where he spent fourteen years as a player.
