JUNCTION CITY, Ore. — A long-time Lane County business is getting a major makeover and it isn’t just sprucing up an area along Highway 99 — it’s also adding jobs.
Guaranty Chevrolet in Junction City is getting a brand new showroom and service center. Part of the building they occupy dates back to more than 50 years and the folks at Guaranty say they are ready for an upgrade. Starting today, crews are putting up beams that outline the new showroom floor. Back in 1952 the building was just two offices, but as business grew the building expanded.
The general sales manager says they needed a facility that would be more convenient for customers. General Motors gave Guaranty the master design plan for its showroom. The car maker wants to add uniformity to its dealerships across the country.
“It’s something we want to do. It’s not something we have to do. It’s not something they can make us do, but it’s something that the nill family saw as a good investment, not only in our dealership, but in the community,” said Bob Smith, General Sale Manager at Guaranty Chevrolet.
Three electric vehicle charging stations will also be added.
When work is finished, Smith says they plan to add five new positions at the Chevrolet dealership. The construction alone is providing 50 jobs.
It’s a project that is costing Guaranty well over a million dollars and is expected to be finished by the end of the year.
