Local Doctor, Runner Helps Wounded

EUGENE, Ore. — A Florence doctor who just finished the marathon rushed to help the bomb’s victims.

Dr. Paul Pearson was just a few blocks a way when the explosions happened.

Despite the confusion and panic, he stopped to help whomever he could. But Pearson says he wasn’t alone in his efforts.

“It was just kind of neat to see how people helped each other out. There were people at the hotel who made a huge pot of coffee and took it out to the police just down the street. So it was all these just tiny little things of people helping each other that gives me some reassurance that human nature really is good,” Pearson told KEZI 9 News over the phone Tuesday.

Pearson and his wife say they’ll return home late Friday night.
