Local Entrepreneurs Compete in Contest

OSU Advantage AcceleratorCORVALLIS, Ore. — If you’ve seen the ABC TV show Shark Tank, you know it can be difficult to convince investors to believe in your business.

But Tuesday night, local entrepreneurs get to do the same kind of thing. They’re pitching to the Oregon State University Advantage Accelerator in Corvallis.

It’s an organization through the university that helps local innovators launch their ideas. The Accelerator is teaming up with the Willamette Innovators’ Network to put the event on.

On Tuesday night, eight entrepreneurs will present their ideas to the “sharks.”

“Those sharks are going to evaluate their pitches and give them some feedback,” said Dan Whitaker, who is on the Board of Directors for the Willamette Innovators’ Network. “And the best pitches will automatically become finalists for entry into the OSU Accelerator,”

That would mean free mentorship and help from interns to help their businesses get going.

The event happens at the Corvallis Sports Park from 6-8 p.m.
