Local Flu Vaccinations Increase

flu shotEUGENE, Ore. — Cases of H1N1 in Lane County are going down, and vaccinations are going up.

Lane County Public Health officials say residents have responded well to flu season this year, especially after the death of 5-year-old Ronan Burgess.

Jason Davis of Lane County Public Health says they’re seeing 15 times more people getting flu shots now than a month ago.

“People have really flooded into the clinics to get their flu vaccine. We’ve heard the same accounts from retailers, pharmacies, doctors’ offices and hospitals. People are getting their flu shots left and right. That’s a very encouraging response,” Davis said.

He says flu season lasts until May, so it is still not too late to get a shot.
