EUGENE, Ore. — Multiple variables put the pressure on local gas prices in the direction that makes drivers a little more comfortable at the pump.
In the past week, gas prices in the Eugene/Springfield area dropped by about 11 cents a gallon–from $3.96 to $3.85.
A mix of regional refineries getting back up to speed with production, lower crude oil prices, and falling into a seasonal trend of less consumption can all be attributed to the downward trend.
“We had the perfect storm, if you will, in California. We had a major refinery go down on October 1. During that time there was some panic buying and prices soared,” said Marie Dodds, AAA Director of Government and Public Affairs
AAA says our local average of $3.85 a gallon is a little cheaper than the state average.
