Local Gas Prices Go Up

EUGENE, Ore. — The summer travel season is in full swing and travelers should carry some extra cash as gas prices have gone up.

AAA says the state average went up $0.10 recently. It also says the current average in the Springfield and Eugene area is $3.86 a gallon. That’s up $0.15 from a week ago.

Local gas station owners say many things contribute to prices, but there’s always one concept that applies.

“Its a supply and demand. If people are traveling more, they’re going to use more so that would attribute to that so that would be a common sense thing to say that would happen,” said gas station owner Jeffrey Vogel.

Vogel says even with prices going up, customers have been kind and understanding about the situation.
