Local Rabbi Reacts to Kansas Shooting

Temple Beth IsraelEUGENE, Ore. — A rabbi with a Eugene synagogue says all Jews must use the tragedy in Kansas to reinforce their beliefs.

He says the shooting, just one day before the beginning of Passover–an important Jewish holiday–is tough.

But Rabbi Boris Dolin with Temple Beth Israel says they must not let it ruin their celebration. He says passover is all about the history of Jews overcoming oppression and achieving freedom for all, and they should try to remember that always, especially during times like this.

“It’s especially sad that it comes at this time, but like we’ve always done, like our ancestors have done before us, we move ahead and just try to bring more peace and justice to the world each and every day, and that’s what we are called to do,” Rabbi Dolin said.

The synagogue says they have a strong security system in place and don’t have any plans at this time to change or increase anything.
