EUGENE, Ore — A group of about fifty local Republicans gathered at the Lane County Republicans Headquarters in Eugene, and they were both tuned-in and talkative.
Spectators kicked off the evening by logging on to a live video chat with Senator Rick Santorum, who took questions from groups all over the country joining in on the online chat. Republicans gathered at the Lane County Republicans Headquarters in Eugene, and they were both tuned-in and talkative.
When the debate began, all attention turned to the big screen where local Republicans praised Governor Romney’s responses and scoffed at President Obama’s. Needless to say they were pleased with much of what Romney had to say, Lane County Republican Chair Loren Later says one thing stuck out in his mind.
“I think for me it’s the idea that we need to get America back to work, we need to be focused on our entreprenurial spirit. We need to help make sure we clear the way for small businesses to be successful,” said Later.
Spectators here were paticularly vocal when Romney called President Obama out about not accomplishing certain agenda items during his current term.
The organization plans to be more vocal as Later and the rest of the group will be spending the next twenty days making calls in hopes of recruiting more Lane County Romney supporters.
