Local Runners Organize Run for Boston

EUGENE, Ore. — Runners in Eugene are hitting the trail Wednesday night to honor the victims of Monday’s tragedy.

The Oregon Track Club used its Facebook page to gather local runners at Alton Baker Park.

The plan is for runners to gather at the park at 6 p.m. and run Pre’s Trail together.

Runners at the park earlier in the day told KEZI 9 News that the run is all about showing solidarity and support for the city of Boston. They said despite what happened on Monday, nobody is going to take away their love of running, especially in Track Town U.S.A.

“I think a lot of us who run and experience the joy and the freedom that it is were particularly crushed by what happened in Boston. I think it’s affected everybody,” said Eugene runner Kirsten Bartlett.

Runners are encouraged to wear blue and yellow at the run to show support for Boston. Others said that runners of all ability levels are welcome to come participate.
