Local Runners to Ring in 2014

EUGENE, Ore. — One Eugene Running Club wants to help you start out the new year on the right foot.

Level 32 Racing hosts events like the Turkey Trot and the Jingle Bells Run, and on New Year’s Eve they are doing the First Run 5k and 10k. The course will start and end near Valley River Center Mall.

Organizers say it’s a great way to start 2014 with a bang.

“It’s always several hundred people. Runners in our community are always anxious to get a jump on the new year,” said Bob Coll of the Eugene Running Company. “There’s no sense in waiting around to start that resolve. Might as well start right at the stroke of midnight.”

Participants will be wearing glow-in-the-dark bracelets during the race to help with safety during the competition.
