The Goodyear on 7th Avenue in downtown Eugene says when the first snowfall hits, it sees about 50 percent more customers coming in to pick up seasonal tires.
Many are chaining up for the passes as well.
“Soon as there’s snow on the ground people notice oh man, my tires are slipping, and then they realize they really need tires,” said Jim Papple, Goodyear Service Manager.
Local Les Schwab Tire Center locations say their sales also increase when the snow starts to fall.
In general though, Goodyear says because stock tires are better and people are traveling less, snow tire sales have dwindled a bit over the years.
