Log Loaders Compete at Conference

EUGENE, Ore. — The Oregon Logging Conference is under way at the Lane Events Center, and the big excitement Friday surrounded the annual log loading competition.

During the competition, participants had to stack nine logs into three pillars of three.

The competition didn’t just bring experienced log loaders. For one competitor, the two-minute warm-up was his first time ever attempting to stack logs.

“It went pretty good actually I think for never doing it, not knowing what to expect or what even really to do. I don’t think it went bad,” said Sweet Home resident Mike Urban.

Log loaders will continue to compete for the fastest time with the hopes of winning a cash prize.

The logging conference continues through Saturday. Admission is free.
