EUGENE, Ore. — Things are now back to normal on I-5 after after a roll-over crash involving a logging truck backed up traffic for miles. The crash happened on I-5 northbound just before the Highway 58.
Oregon State Police say it all started when a logging truck and utility vehicle collided just before Mile Post 188. At the same time, a tow truck and tour bus were pulled over on the side of the road. When the log truck and utility truck collided, the log truck started fish-tailing and overturned causing logs to spill on the highway. Troopers say clearing the logs from the roadway was just part of the cleanup. Crews also had to clear about 30 to 40 gallons of fuel spilled by the log truck along the highway.
OSP says no one was hurt during the crash. There were no charges against any of the drivers, but that could change in the coming days.
