LULAC Talks Immigration Reform

EUGENE, Ore. — Lane County leaders met with local Latin American citizens┬áSaturday morning┬áto discuss immigration reform.

The town hall meeting with League of United Latin American Citizens was held at the Oregon Research Institute.

State representative Val Hoyle as well as Eugene City Councilor Greg Evans were among the speakers.

Evans says it’s important to address the issues immigrants are facing in Lane County.

“There are issues about access to higher education which is now being dealt with at the state level,” said Evans.

Evans says he hopes people took away a sense of community from the meeting for new and soon-to-be new citizens.
